Equality

We are an inclusive school and aim to provide equal opportunities for all. Membury Primary Academy strives to ensure that the culture and ethos of the school are such that, whatever the abilities and needs of members of the school community, everyone is equally valued and treats one another with respect. Pupils should be provided with the opportunity to experience, understand and value diversity.

Our Equality Policy puts in place a range of actions to eliminate prejudice, unlawful discrimination and victimisation within the Trust, its school communities and workforce.

The Equality Act 2010 requires the school to publish specific and measurable equality objectives. Our equality objectives are based on our analysis of data and other information. They focus on those areas where we have agreed to take action to improve equality and tackle disadvantage. The Trust has set five equality objectives for the four year period from May 2021 until May 2025.

Governors conduct an annual review of progress against our objectives using evidence seen and discussions held with the Head of School. Evidence reviewed includes: the School Development Plan (SDP); newsletters to parents; curriculum planning documents; performance & attendance data; governor monitoring - including attending school assembly and formal/informal discussions with staff.

We have an accessibility plan for the school which can be seen via the link below or in the school office. Equality for disabled pupils is included as an explicit aim in all of the school’s policies and is supported by the school’s other policies including:

  • Accessibility Plan
  • Attendance Policy
  • Behaviour Policy
  • Equality Policy & Objectives
  • Teaching and learning policy
  • Admissions policy
  • SEN policy
