Governors

I am very pleased to welcome you to the Governors' Page of the Membury Primary Academy website.

Whilst the school operates under the umbrella of Acorn Multi Academy Trust and its Board of Directors, we retain our own Local Governing Body (LGB) and through this we work hard to preserve the individual character of our school.

A list of local governors and their profiles is available below and in hard copy in school. You have our assurance that we are committed to working as a team with staff, parents, children and the wider community to ensure the very best outcomes for the children and the long term viability of the school.

Governors and the Head of School, Heidi Wickens, meet regularly to discuss all matters relating to the school and pre-school, take responsibility for making decisions and then report back to the Board of Directors of Acorn Multi Academy Trust.

Within the framework of our Terms of Reference and the Trust Board Scheme of Delegation, the focus of our governance is the well-being of the children. We want them to be the best they can be within a happy, safe, healthy and caring environment. As a team we are constantly striving to improve our own skills to strengthen leadership in order to fulfil these aims and obligations.

These aims are enhanced by the increased management and teaching expertise across the six schools of the Trust. As staff develop and share skills and knowledge together the curriculum and the extra-curricular opportunities for all the children at Membury will be extended.

We know that the school is at the heart of the community and we seek to build on the goodwill and support of parents and friends with effective two-way communication and information sharing. Feedback is welcome and contact details are below.

Correspondence for the governors should be sent to the Clerk to Governors, Veronica Dower. clerk@acornacademy.org. Correspondence for the Chair should be sent into the Membury School Office, Membury, EX13 7AF in a sealed envelope clearly addressed to the Chair of Governors.

Minutes of meetings are publicly available to view in the school office, following approval at the next Local Governing Body meeting.
